The most popular places to stay on Marthas Vineyard are in the towns of Oaks Bluff and Vineyard Haven. These are also the two towns that most of the ferries servicing the island dock at. Oaks Bluff is very well-known for its entertainment and night life, and Vineyard Haven for its shopping. Bed and Breakfasts can be found in the old sea captains homes in Edgartown. Accommodations can also be found in Menemsha, Chilmark and West Tisbury on the upper end of the island. It is usually necessary to book reservations well ahead of visiting because of its popularity as a tourist attraction.

Marthas Vineyard is a popular destination for the wealthy and the famous. There are many beachfront homes owned by celebrities and wealthy individuals.
