Spine injuries and persistent back pain
Once an injury to the spine has occurred, regular, often persistent back pain can follow; affecting almost every type of activity, only back pain relief medication seems to help for a while. Pain relief is possible with the medications available but that is all they do and the reason for the pain continues.
Medication should be used sparingly and under the strict supervision of a medical professional. The reason back problems are so common is because it is so easy to injure the spine, large numbers of people have caused permanent damage to their backs just by sitting poorly for long periods.
Of course the most common way to injure your spine is by lifting heavy weights or lifting them incorrectly. Many people are now turning to other methods of gaining back pain relief which do not include the use of drugs. Tense muscles in the back can be eased just by gentle stretching; this provides relief and is simple to carry out.
Another type of treatment uses reflexology to massage the feet. It is a very old natural therapy which helps to relieve many chronic ailments. Relaxing muscles and increasing the effectiveness of the circulatory system are two other reasons to use reflexology.
Acupuncture on the other hand has been used in China since before the birth of Christ and has had considerable success in helping sufferers. It is providing back pain relief even though this is something that has only recently being used in the Western world. The Chinese believed all humans have an energy force called qi and by inserting needles in specific parts of the body, it can help to unblock qi and restore the flow. There are large numbers of people that use acupuncture on a regular basis and claim it works well for them providing pain relief; especially those who have what is termed a chronic condition.
Relief can also come from another Chinese treatment like tai chi which is a form of yoga but not so strenuous. It focuses on breath control and is very relaxing owing to its gentle nature. It is possible for anyone to participate irrespective of age.
Natural back pain relief should really start with more frequent exercise which will not only help ensure the back is more flexible but help prevent spinal problems.
