Mardi Gras Mania
If you still happen to be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, check out the Mardi Gras Museum at Arnaud’s Restaurant before you leave.
The museum was opened in 1983 and is free to the public during regular restaurant hours. The collection contains Carnival court gowns and costumes, as well as other memorabilia. The museum also provides an interesting look at the history of Mardi Gras, including its most famous queen, Mrs. Germaine Wells, who resided over twenty-two Mardi Gras balls.
In addition to the elaborate Carnival costumes, masks, jewelry, and krewe invitations are also on display.
Whether you call New Orleans your home or just party central, this is the place to go for the best food and history lesson in the French Quarter. Arnaud’s is located at 813 Rue Bienville, New Orleans, LA 70112.
