It Bothers Me When Clients Use “Terms of Endearment” to Greet Me

It really bothers me when clients of ours use these “terms of endearment” to greet me.

I am the vice president of the company- I will have an intelligent at length conversation with someone and it will be time to wrap up and they will say “take care sweetheart.”

Hello?

If I was a guy would you be calling me sweetheart?

Doubtful.

They should just save these “terms of endearment” for someone who in turn endears them, because it sure isn’t me!

It is degrading in a professional atmosphere to be regarded as “a sweetie or baby.”  I used to just take it without saying anything but now I let people know, “I am not your baby!”
