I hate when people steal things out of the work refrigerator

I hate it when people steal things out of the work refrigerator and freezer.  We have a communal fridge and things “disappear”.  I can understand if, say, two people brought in the same kind of TV dinner, or even the same brand.  But usually a dinner would be left behind if that were the case.

Lately, things just vaporize.  Even someone’s home cooked leftovers or takeout.  Once, someone left a half eaten piece of pizza in the fridge and someone ate that.  With a ten person office, that would be bizarre.  With a two hundred person office, that’s just disgusting.

If you are going to borrow someone’s butter or cream, replace it.  And fill up the darn ice cube tray!!  The Ice Cube Fairy doesn’t work here!

As far as I’m concerned, if you need money for lunch, just ask.  Don’t go mooching in the fridge.

No Way! I cannot believe what Tracy wrote about people taking food from the refrigerator at work!!! Other than not putting your food in the refrigerator at work…I can think of only three ideas 1. Label your food clearly 2. Wrap it up so that people cannot get to it easily 3. Maybe…someone is making the food disappear by throwing it away. HOW ANNOYING!

Excuse me Dawn, but you’re annoying. First of all, what do you think the kitchen at work is for!? You must be one of the individuals that steals everyone’s food! I definitely agree with Tracy. I had an experience once, with someone taking my food, and it was labeled, Dawn. One day, my team had a meeting, which included a box lunch. Well, my direct team leader had saved me a lunch. She also wrote me a note ” Hey Morgan, if you haven’t already had lunch, here’s is a lunch for you.” So I put the boxed lunch in one of our kitchens, along with the note on top. Well, when I went to go get the lunch at the end of the day, the note was still on the boxed lunch, but the wrap sandwich was gone! Everything else was still there (fruit, salad, cookies), but the sandwich was missing! I thought someone was playing a joke on me, but when nobody confessed, I realized that it was for real. How disgusting is that!?

My response is to Dawn who can not believe people take other peoples food out of the refrigerators at work. My Husband is a Corrections Officer and sometimes does double shifts (7 AM - 11 PM) and more than once (A LOT MORE THAN ONCE) his food has been taken. Let me tell you that after working with a bunch of whiney prisoners it is nice to sit down and eat a nice meal !! But NO, some moron thinks it is their given right to take what is NOT theirs!! I cook my Husbands meals and I must admit I do a damn good job. I do it for HIM because I love him not for some jerk who can’t stop at micky d’s on his (or her) way to work!!! When your food is in your lunch container YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO LABEL IT……It is called stealing!!!! Which is why there are prisons!!!!!! Stealing is against the law. No matter how hungry you are!

I believe what tracy wrote about people taking your food out of the refrigerator at work. I used to work at a place that the cleaning lady would eat what ever she wanted of peoples lunches and put them back. Sometimes all of the food would be gone sometimes just parts of a lot of lunches!!!!!! So Nasty!!!!

Tracy, I have a solution to the food being eaten at work! Bring in something that looks yummy and tempting. Of course, it won’t taste that way! Make it REALLY awful….tuna fish in some pudding, hot sauce on a sandwich so hot nobody could swallow it….you get the idea. Be sure to label these things as yours. Then maybe they would think twice before touching YOUR lunch! Sound mean? Naaaa! After all, it did have YOUR name on it, not theirs!

My sister’s husband used to have the same problem where every day someone would steal all the dessert out of his lunch bag. She fixed the problem by baking a batch of brownies and adding a laxative to it. Maybe some of you ought to try something like that. Try lacing your sandwich with a thick layer of cayenne, or tabasco sauce in the salad. Of course you will need to pack a second lunch for yourself and hide it. Just don’t cause any deaths or do anything illegal. My brother-in-law never had another lunch stolen.

This is in response to the lunch theft.. At a job I no longer work at, I had decided to take my lunch with me to work I of course placed it in one of the kitchens. At lunch I went to get it (I also labeled mine with my name on it) and it was gone. But you see I have diabetes and depend on the way I plan my meals and was just lucky that I had brought some money. If the person was that hungry just ask I would have gave money or the sandwich but to steal food.. Some people just amaze me with the way they handle themselves.

    Tracy K,

I read your peeve about the evening out with the children and had
to respond. You should have stopped your children before it got
to the point that someone had to say something to you. I’ve
raised two children of my own and I have to tell you that if one
of mine behaved like that when we went out to eat that I would
slap them firmly across the rearend and tell them to knock it off
or else. I used to get complimented on how well behaved my
children were when we went out to public places. I was very proud
of that, and still am. It’s very aggravating to work hard all
week and look forward to a nice quit, relaxing evening out and
have to put with bratty children screaming, kicking, running up
and down isles or sassing their parents in booth or table next to
you. I feel that parents today need to get back to the basics of
childrearing as well as many other aspects of their lives. This
new philosophy of little or no discipline is creating a future
generation of disrespectful brats and juvenile delinquents. My
advice to you is to buy the book ” Don’t Be Afraid To
Discipline”. It’s wonderful and has a lot of good old fashioned
advice in it. Good Luck to you and your husband…..

i think its dumb and wrong for people to steal but use common sense. we are living in the 21 century and people do steal so stop acting like it is a big surprise.if you do not want your food to be stolen bring something that does not need to be refrigerated or get fast food and eat it then. if you put your stuff in a public area, expect it to be gone when you come back because people do steal. it’s like putting a jacket on the bench and leaving it there to get a drink of water….it’s going to be gone when you come back….duh…..and even though i am saying, do not get me wrong because i think stealing is wrong and people who steal are dumb but have common sense and stop acting like the world is perfect and nothing goes wrong.

Sounds like most of you have it way worse than I do. Instead of using the sawdust-like creamer that my work provides for coffee, I bring in half and half and leave it in the fridge. It gets pretty annoying that people use it without permission. I’ve never heard of someone stealing a lunch where I work. Man, that’s low!
