There are plenty of resources which teach you how to relieve stress and it is no suprise. The world is full of stressful people. Generally people are so busy they have little time for anything.
We are fatalities in a bizarre world. Think about it. We chase around hour after hour every day and we end up without any time. Our quest for more stuff; money, success and material things is what has caused our stressful lives and why we are these ticking time bombs.
The symptoms of stress can be fatal leading to disease, chronic illness, hypertension and even heart attack. Many people don’t realize the stress they put themselves under on a daily basis. Our bodies have amazing coping mechanisms that protect us from a sudden burst of stress which could be caused by a traumatic event or fear. We were not however supposed deal with stress all the time.
So how does one relieve stress and avoid the effects of it on the body? Before we get to the 5 tips for effective stress relief there are two things you should be doing, if you are not already, on a daily basis to free yourself from stress.
The first thing is to get off adrenaline. One of the best tips on how to relieve stress is to plan better. In life there will always be things you have to deal with that you didn’t plan for but this should be the exception. A little planning can be the best thing you can do to keep your stress levels down. Your health and life could be at stake.
The second thing is to drink less caffeine and if you are a smoker to cut back, or better yet, quit smoking. Nicotine and caffeine can cause your body to deal with unnecessary stress. Try to limit your intake where possible.
Now we can work through the 5 tips to avoid stress on your mind and body.
1. Get some exercise
Regardless of what your definition of exercise is. It could be jogging or taking a long brisk walk or even doing a workout at the gym. Regular exercise is what is important and so is making sure you are relaxed while doing it. If you are not enjoying the exercise you are doing then there is really no point.
2. Relaxation and meditation
I know it sounds easy to say just relax or chill out but most people don’t know how to. It is not necessary to meditate like a Zen master, although this can be very relaxing, but you should take a time out where you are free from disruptions and noise and you can have a little alone time.
3. Do something for yourself
Ladies this does not mean go on a shopping spree. It does mean doing something for yourself. Take a time out to be on your own making sure you will not be interrupted or you could go out to a spa and get a massage.
4. Video and board games
Games can be a perfect way to relieve stress. You may want to choose careful the people you play the game with so as to avoid tension because of competitiveness. There are some great free software games you can download off the internet that are great to help relieve stress
5. Get a good night’s sleep
Get enough proper rest. You can place tremendous stress on your body when sleeping patterns are interrupted. To rest properly your mind needs to be at rest. It may sound impossible but you can stop yourself from reacting to the thoughts that cause you to stress.
Don’t feel pressure to start on all of these ideas just try one to start off with and make sure it works for you. Remember that you should be relaxing no matter what you choose to do. Start today.
