Held Responsible for Flirty Friend

I am so tired of people holding me responsible for other people’s actions.  See, one of my friends has a major thing for my brother in law.  But, he is seeing someone else.  The tough part is that he flirts back with my friend all the time.  Now, my brother in law’s girlfriend is holding me responsible because my friend flirted with him!  Why is it my fault or responsibility to help or hinder in that situation?  He flirted back .  .  .  what am I supposed to do?  Tell him to stop it?  I don’t feel I should be held responsible for that in the least.  Any thoughts?
