Ditto on finding clothes that fit...try being a Short BBW. Everything is 6-7 inches too long. Some manufacturers make pants in lengths for plus sizes but not dresses. And my girth is in my middle too...why do manufacturers think that if your tummy is larger that everything else is too. If it fits my middle , 3 legs could fit inside the pant leg...I sympathize with jean. And one more thing...just because I need more girth in my undies does not mean my crotch is now 6 inches wide...do the makers of plus size undies ever have plus size models try anything on? I mean all the extra material there is danged uncomfortable...and don't even get me started on bras....now that's a total nightmare. If it gives good support it looks like a tank or grandma's wear... I shudder every time I have to shop for intimate wear....

I can totally relate to dw!! Except for the tall and thin part! lol

I am only 5'5 but weigh 220 lbs. Finding fashionable clothes is such a chore and not because nothing looks good on heavy women. It seems the fashion industry is regulated to a particular standard and unless you fit into that cookie cutter mold, you are left with no choices.

The selection in the plus size stores is horrendous, but fortunately things are turning around for us large sized women. More and more activists are getting involved and heavier women are taking it upon themselves to design clothes which enable us to be fashionable and beautiful. Helping us to be large and in charge!!

Now if we could just change the attitudes of the cookie cutter world!

Good luck finding something that fits, dw, you have my sympathies.

I get irritated when I buy clothes. I am a large woman. I know this is "bad" of me, but that's the way it is. Why do plus size manufacturers make so many plus size clothes in clingy knits? Heavy people don't want this; we want stiffer fabrics that don't cling to our bulges, to be frank. and yet it is so hard to find heavier, stiffer fabrics. Other peeve--all the plus size pants are made for women with heavy thighs. I'm one of those women who carry my weight in my abdomen. To get the waist to fit, the thigh sections are three times as big as my legs actually are. I look ridiculous.
