She moved to Cascade, Montana, when she was in her fifties and there she made her name.  Mary was the second woman ever to drive a US mail coach.

She also hauled freight. With a cigar in her mouth, a rifle by her side, and whiskey nearby, she drove eight horses, pulling two heavy wagons at once.

Throughout her long and adventurous life, she fought wolves, shot a man who insulted her, and was the only woman to be permitted to drink in the town’s saloon.

She also had a warm side.  In fact, her restaurant, which she owned later in life, went belly-up because she couldn’t help feeding poverty-stricken travelers.  By the time Mary died, at a ripe old age, the town of Cascade so revered her that it closed its public schools on Mary’s birthday.

Cover and start blender;

remove center of cover and, while blender is running, slowly pour in 1/2 cup melted butter and 1/4 cup lemon juice (fresh-squeezed is, of course, better than the bottled kind).

Take the Orlando Science Center which can offer over 200,000 square feet of exhibitions and displays in ten huge halls; its focus is to provide a basis for experimenting, and learning science and technology. If your preference is in railways then the International Trolley and Train Museum on International drive will be a pleasant surprise with 14 trains running continuously and three waterfalls in a space of about 4,000 square feet.

For something a little different there’s the Titanic Exhibition which tells the story of the ill fated Ocean Liner performed by a character from the ship; the displays contain some original salvaged items and at times the tour is very moving. Of course if you prefer something more relaxing then you should visit Lake Eola Park, situated in the heart of downtown; this is the city’s main attraction with 43 acres of beautiful sidewalks and a boating lake.

Now you couldn’t possibly visit Orlando without a trip to the numerous theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios and of course not to forget the fantastic Seaworld. If you have never vacationed in Orlando before, you must try it at least once; it doesn’t really matter when you go, however holiday seasons do get busy, especially Christmas; well, who wouldn’t want to spend Christmas with Mickey.
