Babyland General Hospital: A Scary Place
Remember in the early 1980’s when Moms were tearing each other apart in massive lines to be first to obtain Cabbage Patch dolls? Those were the dolls that one “adopted” and they came complete with names and birth certificates.
Well, not only are Cabbage Patch dolls STILL on the market, but they’re still being “born” in the cabbage patches at Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia.
Take a tour of Babyland, located in an old doctor’s clinic, to see hospital staff in doctor’s uniforms tending to just-”born” dolls in incubators. You’ll also see numerous exhibits depicting the Cabbage Patch dolls going to school, sailing on the S.S. cabbage, ice-skating, etc. There’s even a hospital where original dolls can receive “emergency care.”
But now here comes the scary part: the Magic Crystal Tree. In the last room, visitors get to see the Cabbage Patch dolls pre-birth - enclosed up to their fat little heads in a fake cabbage patch underneath an even more implausible tree. Suddenly, the team of doctors and nurses will go to work. You’ll see a nurse yank a doll from its hole, wrap it in a blanket, and carry it off to the Babyland nursery for immediate adoption.
Your kids will be confused about where babies come from forever after. Want to go? You can get more information here:
