A new way to buy fresh fish

Did you know that you can now buy fresh fish online? Nowadays there’s very little that can’t be bought over the internet. Our love affair with search engines, principally Google, has meant that retailers, wholesalers in fact pretty much anyone who has a service or product to offer has an online presence.  You might think this seems quite a novel concept considering that fresh fish is a perishable product with a very short shelf life.  But some savvy fishmongers have realised that there is a market for those looking to buy smoked salmon or buy haddocks fillets on the internet.

It is now possible for online fishmongers to deliver frozen fish to your door, keeping it fresh for your enjoyment.As the fish is quick frozen and delivered in specially sealed vacuumed packed bags, it retains its freshness and flavours throughout the delivery process.As the fish is dispatched in a van with a dry ice compartment it will be kept frozen, and will not lose its freshness.

You may think it strange that consumers would want to buy fish online.  But if you consider that we are all working longer hours, with increasingly stressful lifestyles, it makes sense for us to be able to buy fish online rather than rush to the fishmongers during work hours.Fish bought online could actually be fresher than fish bought in the fishmongers or supermarket, as it has been quick frozen and not sat on display.

Also consider the choice and quality of the fish you’re buying. Online fishmongers often know seafood very well, and should be able to offer the best available on their websites.  Aside from that not every town or village has a fishmongers; more often than not consumers are purchasing fresh fish from a supermarket.  Once again choice could be compromised, with only a smaller selection of fish being available.
